Video On Demand, or VOD (or PPV, pay per view) as it is often known is a great way to watch porn when you want to without having to become a member of a membership site. There are loads of VOD cinemas out there and they all work in the same way: you become a member (usually for free) so that you can log in to the complete list of movies and details. You buy time, usually on a sliding scale with the more time you buy the cheaper it is in the long run. Ignoring the ‘paid to be at the top of the list of search results’ ones and going for the highest ranking generally, the first we come across is aebn.net which describes itself as ‘The global VOD leader.’ Actually I’ve seen hundreds of membership sites that link into this provider of VOD and AEBN is probably one of the best well known. It features a gay and a straight area on its first page so that punters have a choice. The site itself looks very similar to other VOD sites but with its own colour scheme and collection. (There must be a piece of software that webmasters use as VOD sites do often look so similar.) It has a long list of categories, a searchable database and regular updates. Prices start at $3.95 for 15 minutes and the site uses Windows Media Player and Real One to stream the movies.

Second on the rankings comes moviemonster.com again with straight and gay areas (and several languages to select from too.) Samples start to play as you enter the site, there are other free samples too, you have WMV and Real players, a choice of connection speeds (it is very important to choose the appropriate one otherwise you will find your paid for movies start and stop, which can be very frustrating) and prices start at $3.95 for 15 minutes. As with AEBN you have a large choice of viewing material and can set up a free account, there is a help page and a link to the DVD store where you can order hard copies of some of the flicks.

Malepayperview.com comes up third in out list with a choice of four ways to view the movies: Pay Per View, Rental, Downloads or Burn to DVD, this last feature is really catching on and good VOD sites will offer you the chance to burn the movies (once paid for) to you own DVDs. The prices, layout and look of the site are so similar to the ones we’ve just seen it’s tempting to think that these sites are all from the same providers but this doesn’t mean any one is any less worth choosing than the others. As with most VOD sites you are treated to box shots, cast details, summaries of the action and some photos from the individual scenes.

So basically it’s a question of deciding which site you want to become a member of. Use that guide of $3.95 for 15 minutes as a rule of thumb when it comes to cost and remember that the more time you buy the cheaper it becomes to use. Also remember to check the connection speeds available and the list of content to make sure that you can get exactly what you want, how you want it and, more importantly, when you want it.

This is a new site on me. I’d never heard of, let alone been to, DudeTube before so what you are getting here are my very first impressions.

And they’re good ones so far. The page launches quickly and is in your face. Although there is a ‘the is an adult website’ disclaimer and warning there is also a picture of a guy wanking right next to it so no warning page to keep the under aged out. (Not that these pages work very well anyway.) What you have here is a blog with extras, as far as I can see – there’s no ‘about’ information to tell you what to expect so it’s all down to you to investigate what goodies are on offer.

Scroll down the center page for the DudeTube’s blog and there I found images from Sean Cody (hard core), naked self pics of Commonwealth Games medal winning UK swimmer Dean Milwain, (cute) and links to Xtube video clips, (guys wanking). This last one made me wonder if DudeTube is a part of XTube or a separate set up feeding off it. You will have to go and view to make up your own mind.

Over on the right hand menu/column I found some much more interesting things. First up was the DudeTube gallery where guys were posting their own self-pics. Lots of interesting cocks and faces on show there and you could add a comment for each one. There was then a webchat area but you need to create a free account to access this. It doesn’t take long to think up a username and password and once you’re in you will, in theory, be able to chat to other members. Beneath this we had the usual search engine and contact details and then some adverts for paysites. Right towards the bottom of the list there were the archives dating back to March 2007 when I guess the site was created.

I clicked on the very first archive and was pleased to find some nice pics and vids of some cute bois doing heir stuff. There were some hard core scenes and some neat photos of some of the guys from the Bentley Race site. There were more of those self postings from XTube too, with some very hunky guys jacking off on camera. There are also comic strips on the page with superheroes and info on the world of drawn fantasy. So you could say that the site is about: self pics and videos, the best gay sex sites around advertised with pics and links and comic book heroes. An odd but not unpleasant mixture! Actually there are also songs and comments on the day’s news too, so it’s really a bit of everything. Some of the older XTube content didn’t play, which was the only downside to my visit but that’s understandable. The guys who put their own pics and vids up for public display also take them down from time to time and it’s hard to keep track I guess.

Not to worry, what was there was very horny and I have to admit I found myself viewing the amateur clips more than the professional ones. The difference between this site and XTube is that they have already put their favorite clips for you and you have enough choice of viewing without having too much – which can sometime result in you not viewing anything.

So, for something different, for some up to date news on what’s hot in gay porn (and comics) and for some very neat and sexy amateur jerk vids, this looks like a place to have in your list of bookmarked favorites. It doesn’t cost you anything and it’s great entertainment. I’m going to be coming back for more views that’s for sure.
